At LC, we like surprises. Let me qualify that. We like surprises of the Champagne on a Tuesday night sort. And we have a hunch that you do, too. That's why we snuck a few surprises into this week's recipes. Like plump seared sea scallops and crunchy chicharrones in weeknight-friendly soft tacos. Crisp, cracker-like, not-too-sweet chocolate chip cookies just made for dunking into coffee. And an umbrella drink that you won't be ashamed to sip….Oh, and I also threw in the latest installment of my kitchen renovation from hell. Reminder to self: Never do it again.--David
