$100.00 + $10.00 S/H I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the collectors who bought paintings week before last who helped raise $1500.00 for Haiti. I sold a total of 15 paintings and have donated all of the proceeds to the American Red Cross. I could not have accomplished this on my own. The people of Haiti and myself really appreciate all the support of my generous collectors. For the next few weeks I thought I would do paintings from some of my travels. This week I will concentrate on Mexico. I have vacationed many times in that beautiful country and love the people and its culture immensely. Today's daily painting is from the beaches of Puerta Vallarta. The sand and surf are beautiful and this outdoor cafe on the beach was empty for the time being but the impact of the scenery wasn't. "Iris I," 8" square, portrait of a Himalayan kitty, acrylic on canvasboard, not yet available for purchase. However, inquiries (including booking your own pet portrait, from miniature size [4" x 4"] to larger than life) may always come to me. Why the Roman Numeral in the title, you ask? Because there is also an "Iris II" in the works - I've just run out of steam today and won't have her done until tomorrow. I love all the brushwork in Iris's chest - those poufs of fur are soft and lovely, and I would sink my fingers into them, provided she was willing, of course. Being the diva she is, Iris would have to grant me permission to love on her before I dared to do anything! My client will get her pick of the two paintings, and the other one will be up for grabs. ©2010, Helen Read $120.00 My work on this canvas seems to be complete. It is painted around the sides and so framing is not necessary. However, it may not be in its final form. I'm interested in mounting it to a panel behind it and continuing the painting of the leaves all pushed back into shadow... leaving this one protruding both physically and visually. That, of course, will require a little more work and some construction as well! For now, here it is ....
