i am not totally sure what i want out of my life yet! not sure if i can make it living anywhere else other than Iowa. i have tried living in Florida but my sister ripped me off and kets just put it this way, she isan alcoholic and a drug attick, so I came back to iowa, because i did not want that around my kids at all. i want to do what is best for my children, but feel as iff i meant to do so much more than be a mom. well i am actaully a very happy person so whoever reads this do not think iam in complete misery cause I am not! Hello everyone

New here.. just like to let you all know about myself, i am a single mom in boring iowa with 2 disabled kids!! Unemployed right, but ok with that for the most part,. i like music, movies, the ocean although not anywhere close to one right now!

My problem is i do nto feel like i am living up to my potential, I feel liek there shoudl be more out there to my life, like somethign major is missing in my life, not sure why, but i am searching, well tryign to while still taking care of my children.. well that is all now.. love lynel

See Them Or Be Seen In Them...Those Damn Domains!

The more NSN becomes a daily stop on my internet train, the more obvious it is to me that just knowing what your primary domain is from the self-profiler or even from maybe exploring some of the other things we offer, like Naked Soma Radio doesn't do the domains justice. First off, they were never intended to be a mental puzzle. You don't need to 'figure them out'. It's sort of like what happened when they discovered oxygen and the day before we were just breathing air. Knowing more about something doesn't change the basic process. The 4 Domains were directing my attention before I stumbled over them. They hold no magical power over us. Yet, from a standpoint of having a capacity to center of your attention - in the moment - when you need to - I have no better friend. But nature is a fickle friend at best and human nature, well, it's a lifelong goal to be friends with that sucker. So I want you to STOP thinking of the domains as some way to divide people up.

The best way to way to sort of position the 4 Domains in your head is to go back to that tedious driver's ed class in high school. When you learn this skill, the instructor sits in the passenger seat and they have that funny brake on their side of the car. Self-profiling gives you that instructor back, only this time you're in somatic education; Soma's Ed. The process isn't that far off. You need to use your awareness to sync up your internal and external experiences and learn to handle all kinds of unexpected terrain. Eventually, like driving, you're able to feel like it's 2nd nature for you. The 4 Domains are just like the gear you put the car in. They aren't good or bad, better or worse or competing with each other. Like driving, the gear or domain you are in at any particular moment is aligned with your intent and the terrain your traveling on. So if you're parking, reverse is the gear you need to be
to get that task done. In a conversation with your neighbor who lost their pet, ECO or empathic mode, may be the tone for the first part of the conversation, but they may shift you to EXO when they start talking about the leak in their basement. Being able to shift gears and domains - that flexibility - in the moment and over time - is the easiest way to SEE the domains in the outside world and FEEL them moving inside you all day long.

So now for the useful fiction - this whole social networking site is devoted to helping you express all 4 Domains on your NSN page. Think of your primary domain, like you look at your ethnic background. Your were born in that and you developed into your primary domain. But you are not limited to the stereotypes of your ethnic background or your primary domain. In fact, once your brain become 25 years old, your ethnic and somatic 'foreground'
require you to be conversant in all 4 Domains in order to function fully and age properly. So sure, get your somatic 'geneology' freak on and enjoy the self-discovery it gives you. Over time, you're notice how it serves you to go back to your roots - that best friend in a crisis I mentioned. But life is more complex that waving your PHYLO flag at everything (sorry little PHYLO's, I kid because I love). That's why we launched the new groups you see on the home page. There you'll be able to SEE how the domains show up on the NSN members pages. We'll be using your creative efforts as a living mirror to show you how to use the elements of each domain to add depth, richness and authenticity to your NSN page and your off-line life. It's that kind of exchange that helps us face the transitions (that unexpected terrain) that driver's ed or soma's ed (or any guy named Ed) can't prepare us for now.
