Share Art Through Teaching

This week registration will open for my new 2010 online workshop!

Journal 365
with Pam Carriker

A year-long event in visual journaling, this workshop is the perfect way to make art an every day occurrence. Not just a class but a way of living creatively all year long! Every month a new class will be posted with techniques and journal prompts to use for that month. We'll share, encourage, and inspire each other as we make our own journals along the way, adding a signature of favorite paper to them each month. Watching our journals grow, sharing our passion for journaling with each other, through class participation together we'll explore different types of journaling as we grow into our individual styles, revealing the true artist that lies within each of us. Every lesson will be complete, so the class can be joined at the beginning of any month, with the participant picking up at that point and adding the missing lessons on at the end. Revolving lessons, like a Ferris Wheel; it doesn't matter when you get on, you'll still get the full ride! All 365 days.

Class fee $120/12 lessons
Begins April 1st 2010

Share New Products

It's so much fun to Share Art! Especially when you find some cool new product. I recently heard about something cool from all of the Face Book chatter filtering in from CHA, Tulip Paint Cannons.

I had to find out more so I took my Michael's coupon and headed out before the impending snowstorm left me housebound.

Now, when I go to Michaels I never go over to the isle where these little babies hang out so I had to ask where they were. They're over by the T-shirt paints and had I not been intrigued with the idea of being able to use paint like a spray paint, I might have overlooked them. Then I found the Graffiti line of stencils... ok, now I was even more excited! Stencils usually make me think of old fashioned crafting and they're usually kind of boring. Not these! Very edgy and cool just like the name implies.

So I picked up some Paint Cannons, and stencils and headed home to try them out.
I used my fluid Golden paints in them, with a little water, pumped them up and voila, spray paint effect with no fumes!!!

All of these journal pages were created in about 15-20 minutes from start to finish. Gotta love that! I used a watercolor notebook and the pages stayed nice and flat and absorbed the paint nicely.
when I posted the pics on FB, people started asking for a tutorial so I did a quick little video showing this page from start to finish.

You can check out the video here,

And here are the Dauber Bottles that everyone asks about.

The lovely people over at ILOVETOCREATE saw the video and are sending me some more products to try! How nice is that? I promise to share some more techniques with you all when I get them. Please leave a link if you try these so we can all see what you create!

And don't forget to Share Art!

More sharing coming in the near future so stay tuned...

Look Who Won!

And the winners are... #9 and #108 Using a random number generator, I entered the 117 posts and the free workshops go to Irene and Cheri Anderson Phillips! Cheri, I swear it was random girl, I posted your comment for you when you said you were having trouble getting it to post yourself! Congratulations gals! Please be sure to email me for details on signing up for your free workshop! My workshop links are listed on my website for more information on each one. All of them are open ended and can be joined at any time, to be worked at your own pace. Please visit Creative Workshops and check out all of the great classes Gail offers over there. Also be sure to check out Inspirational Retreat for my upcoming live workshop this April. Renee has many wonderful instructors lined up for this new teaching venue!

Please leave a word of congratulations for our winners and thank you all so much for the kind words and for participating.

Share Art

While writing down my goals for 2010 I realized there was a recurring theme, 'Share Art'. Every goal was about sharing art in some way. It's been the emerging theme from my journal pages, the voice of my muse.

When your muse is speaking it's wise to listen. I have several 'Share Art' projects in the works and hope to add several more venues in the near future.

First on my list for today is 'Hearts for Haiti' an Etsy Shop opened to allow artists to share their work, all proceeds go to Haiti relief efforts, while artists donate work and pay for worldwide shipping. 'Heart of Hearts' is my donation. A 16x20 mixed media canvas. Pass the word around about this shop and let's share art and raise money to help the horrible situation in Haiti.

I'd also like to Share Art with one of my blog readers! I just reached 300 followers and haven't had a GIVEAWAY for awhile, so this seems like a great time! I'm going to giveaway an ONLINE WORKSHOP! Your choice of the three I have open right now, VISUAL JOURNALISM 101, SHADES OF GREY, or PURSUING PORTRAITS. If you have already taken all three, please still sign up and I'll give you a $40 gift certificate for my Etsy Print Shop! And just to keep things fun, if we reach 100 entrants, I'll up the giveaway to include two winners!!

So please encourage others to share in this giveaway, post on your blog, tweet, facebook, whatever way you want and help me to Share Art! Giveaway will end January 24th at 12:00pm, all you have to do is comment on this post~
