Corner View: Repurposed Object

This week's corner view it to share one object that we found another use for.

A few years ago I purchased this little gal at a garage sale. Originally the little stand was used for a sewing room, I'm sure. It was the perfect size to use in our basement bathroom, near my little studio area. A great piece to hold some of my treasures, an extra Burt's bee lip balm and handcream.

I added a coat a paint, rubbed off the edges to give it a worn look, added new knobs and now she fits perfectly in her new home.

I know there has to be another use for the thread holders, I just haven't come up with a use for them yet.

I look forward to seeing what others come up with, I hope you will join me.
Corner view list is located in the right column

Enjoy your day my friends.

Hugs,
Joyce

The Healing Begins

The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions. If I may say, the last two years have felt like a rollercoaster ride. I know we are only given what we can handle, but do you ever wish you weren't so strong at times?

Today is a new day, a new beginning, but where to begin. How does one ease back into the merging lane?

Riley, (Kelly's little friend) came to spend a couple of days with us. She was looking all over for her little friend the first day. It is amazing how these little creatures of God can bring such a presence and a ray of sunshine.

When our other pup, Buddy crossed over the rainbow, we purchased a little blossom tree and will do this again, come spring for Kelly. In the meantime I wanted a little something to get me through the remaing winter. That something lead me to Nancy's website,
White Forest Pottery . I have purchased in the past some of her beautiful pottery for friends. I love how she brings nature into her pottery. She also has a blog here

Nancy is involved in a wonderful project called
"108 Bowls: A Water Mala is about giving attention to water" . Each water mala is a group of 108 people who place a small ceramic bowl in their windowsill and keep it topped up with water. Keeping the bowl filled depends on you, just as you depend on water, just as you are water. When it is forgotten, it will go dry. By giving it attention, mind and body, you will likely to receive a fresh sense of the beauty and support provided by the world "outside the window", and quietly, palably connect not only with the other bowls and people in the mala, but all life.

What is water? Perhaps needed tears that need releasing, a world crisis or the blue world itself. Water is a shared reality of the human experience: our existence depends upon it; we are made of it; it crisis is our own; its beauty heals the heart as perhaps no other natural element can. Water is the language of the time for navigating resourse sharing, sustainability, fairness, interspecies justice, and the creation of the conditions for true community. (information on the bowl and water came from the website of 108 Bowls and White Forest Pottery ).
May your cup or bowl runneth over my friends.
Hugs,
Joyce

Enlightenment, peace and joy will not be granted by someone else. The well is within you and if we dip deeply in the present moment, the water will spring forth.

A Little More Time

Hello my friends. I hope everyone is doing well.

The words "thank you" don't seem to be enough to express my sincere gratitude for all of your warm comments, emails and cards on our sweet Kelly.

I will need a little more time to get back to my little blog. I hope to be back later this week. Unfortunately as were going through our loss with Kelly, four days later we received a late night call that Gary's brother passed away unexpected.

Again thank you for your love and friendships.

Our Sweet Kelly

It is said that if you whisper your heartfelt prayers to a butterfly, that mystical messenger will carry your wishes to the heavens. For the generous spirits have blessed the butterfly's delicate wings with the strength to soar high into the sky, where your dreams are then swiftly transformed into destiny. ~unknown~

Kelly 2010

We weren't sure of Kelly's birthday, so we decided her day would be the day she came home to us. She was 5 years old when we brought her home and filled our hearts with love.

By the time you read this our "sweet Kelly girl" will have crossed over to the open fields to run pain free and add laughter and smiles to others.

Kelly was our baby girl, our Kelly girl, princess, queen, and grand dame of our heart and home.

If someone would ask me to describe Kelly (our Lakeland Terrier) in two words they would be FUN and LOVE. Life was a ball of fun for Kelly. She was all about peace and love.

Kelly 2008
She was a true girl at heart. Kelly loved her friends at The Backdrop. She always knew the red carpet would be rolled out for her. She loved to wear her many sweaters and collars. After stepping into them she would run around barking turning her head as to say "look at me" . Oh she had a sweet tooth and loved her treats even at the end.

I have not known a dog to enjoy Christmas, Easter and her birthday like Kelly. Every box or bag that came through the door around these time had her little nose in it.

Kelly had a kind soul and spirit. If you were afraid of dogs or not, it was Kelly who could wiggle herself into your heart. Just ask my niece Ashley, nephew Maxx and the many other hearts she touched. She enjoyed her visits with Riley when we would dog sit. They had a special connection between the two of them. Boy did she love her grandma, she always knew she would get spoiled with treats.

Kelly could make you laugh and wipe the tears away with her silliness. She would stand on her head making a funny noise the more we laughed and said "you funny girl" the more she would do it.

Kelly 2008
She could stir up a choir of dogs barking along her walks as she walked with attitude as her ears bounced in the air.

Kelly was a terrier at heart, she could tear her toys to shreds in record time. I never mind picking up the pieces as I knew this day would come.

She would act like a crazy woman on whiskey when she saw the water hose turned on, or jump high over a stick.

Today the house is quiet, her bed and dish are empty, and our hearts are hurting, but I wouldn't trade in the time we shared.

Our dog trainer, Pat Muller once said Kelly was our teaching dog and that she was indeed. I just wish the lesson wasn't over.

Kelly 2004
Kelly girl you are free from pain, to run and have fun, but you will always be connect to the golden thread of our hearts.

Love,
Joyce and Gary

Thank you Susan and Virginia for bringing us such happiness and joy 10 years and 5 months ago and Pat for teaching "us" how to be better dog owners.

Before and After

One of my favorite places I like to go to and connect with my thoughts and nature, looked like this a few months ago

Now looks like this
A place I like to usual go and sit, on this particular day the weather was too cold even to get out and take this photo.
There are days I yearn for the befores. Do you ever find yourself wanting the befores?
