At 12.30pm this Saturday November 15th, GetUp is inviting you to join thousands of concerned citizens in Queens Park to demonstrate that, twelve months since last year's federal election, you still care about climate change and expect our Prime Minister to do more to reduce Australia's greenhouse emissions. The next Climate Emergency Network meeting will be Monday the 10th of November at 6:30pm at Friends of the Earth, 194 Montague Road, West End. If there is no space we will move just around the corner to the West End Club on Vulture Street. On the agenda is: - Walk Against Warming contingent, leaflet, stall etc - Public meeting - Pickets/actions And whatever else people want to discuss. Spokesman Rob McCreath said “The mining boom is out of control. Areas such as Felton, Jimbour, and Warra are the jewels in the crown of rural Queensland. The Premier must act now to protect our food bowl from destruction.”
The group set up a mock lunch table on the pavement outside the office, with a plate of coal for the Premier’s lunch, and a glass of polluted water.
The protesters shared their own picnic lunch with onlookers – a picnic made from fresh Darling Downs ingredients.
