Sat. August 7 is Last Muir Beach Volunteer Clean-up Day for This Summer and more

The Muir Beach Volunteer Beach Clean-up Program will be held on Saturday, August 7 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  Volunrteers will meet at the south end of the Muir Beach parking lot, next to the boardwalk.

This is a great way for environmentally focused members of the community to make new friends and help preserve our shoreline for marine life... not to mention making the beach more enjoyable for people who walk along the shore.

The 100th running of the Dipsea Race (which runs through Muir Woods) will be held on June 13, 2010.

The race started in 1905, so shouldn't this be the 106th running?  Yes, except we lost two years when the race was not run due to The Depression (1932-33) and four years due to World War II (1942-45).

Location:  Picnic Grounds on Muir Woods Road

The Muir Beach Volunteer Fireman's Association gets most of its funding from this big annual barbecue (or, if you're from Texas, BBQ), where they'll make hundreds of people very happy with grilled chicken dinners Sunday.

Two bands will perform on the outdoor stage, and the firefighters will be selling T-shirts and clothing featuring the fire department's dog logo. 

Air-filled jumps, slides and a climbing structure will be there for the kids, and a raffle includes more than 100 prizes... which means that even I might get lucky enough to win one!
