The Ruby presents our third nominated film this “Oscar Month” for Best Picture ‘La La Land’ (PG-13) Feb 17-21 at 7PM Fri, Sun, Sat, Mon, Tues and 3PM Sat and Sunday. Struggling actress Mia (Emma Stone) and aspiring jazz pianist Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind romance as they both pursue their dreams in Los Angeles. However, their blossoming relationship is challenged when their careers pull them in different directions. Nominated for a record-tying 14 awards, this is a must see!

Fences

The Ruby Theatre continues “Oscar Month” with “Fences” (PG-13) Feb 10-14 this Friday through next Tuesday. Shows are 7 PM Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues and 3 PM Sat and Sunday. “Fences” is based on a Pulitzer Prize winning play by August Wilson. Maxson (Denzel Washington in Oscar-nominated portrayal) takes his disappointment about lost opportunities in life out on his loved ones. Viola Davis is nominated for an Oscar for her role as Maxson’s wife.

Hidden Figures

FEBRUARY IS OSCAR MONTH at the Ruby as the Ruby presents the first in our 2017 Oscar nominated films for Best Picture. ‘Hidden Figures’ (PG) will show Feb 3-7th at 7PM Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues and 3PM Sat and Sunday. Three female African-American mathematicians provide crucial calculations for NASA’s space race against the Soviets, all while dealing with the racist and sexist assumptions of their white co-workers. Starring Octavia L. Spencer, Kirsten Dunst and Kevin Kostner.

Collateral Beauty

The Ruby presents the star studded cast drama “Collateral Beauty” (PG-13) Jan 27-31, 2017 at 7PM Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues and 3PM Sat and Sunday. A New York ad man (Will Smith) deals with the heartache of losing a child by writing letters to Time, Death, and Love. He is soon visited by representations of the three concepts, and they, along with his close friends, help him return to some semblance of a normal life. Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Michael Peña, Helen Mirren, Naomie Harris, Keira Knightley, and Jacob Latimore co-star.

Passengers

The Ruby presents the thrilling adventure ‘Passengers’ (PG-13) Jan 20-24 at 7PM Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues and 3PM Sat and Sunday. Two passengers (Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence) aboard a spacecraft traveling to a distant planet are brought out of suspended animation by a technical glitch — 90 years before the vessel is due to reach its destination. Together, they must investigate the malfunction that awakened them, which could threaten the safety of the ship.
