Follow my blog with Bloglovin Who would have thought that I would go to Mexico City to visit museums and come back home with a whole new appreciation for fine dining? When you begin planning a visit to Mexico City, you must schedule in a few restaurants for your family. Whether it be gourmet desserts or roasted grasshoppers in a 400 year old building, the food in Mexico City will challenge your notions of Mexican fare and delight your tastebuds!
When entering Centre Historico in Mexico City, you might pass right by Restaurante Limosneros, if it weren’t for the brightly colored sign right outside their doorway.

What a mistake that would be! Luckily, our guide in Mexico City knew right where to take us.
When I think Mexican food, I think tacos, burritos, tequila…I never realized just how modern the foodie scene was in Mexico City.
That’s the thing about travel: your preconceived notions are constantly challenged.
At Restaurante Limosneros, you’ll find modern Mexican cuisine with a gourmet flare. Dine on hibiscus flower flautas and grasshopper tacos, sip agave and take in the scene while you await your main course.

That’s right, I said grasshopper tacos! An excellent source of protein, Limosneros slow cooks, seasons, and roasts their grasshoppers all day for optimum flavor. Don’t let their little prickly legs deter you – it’s something you must try at least once!
My main course of roasted fowl, which was a cross somewhere between duck and pheasant, was delicious! This was our first meal in Mexico City and set the standard pretty high for the rest of the weekend.

The Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel and Towers left nothing to be desired for breakfast.
While you can find a large assortment of fresh fruits, they also had an array of freshly-baked pastries and breads, along with every sort of savory breakfast food your heart could possibly desire.

We made a quick stop into El Delirios Restaurant, a deli style cafe owned by Monica Patino and run by her daughter.
The food is simple, rustic and reasonably priced, and you can simply stop in and grab a bite to go, or sit and enjoy the atmosphere.

You can even stock up on specialty sauces and seasonings on your way out! Everything is locally sourced, with many of their store items exclusive to Delirios!

If you’re hankering for a more authentic Mexican food experience, stop into El Fogoncito’s, a local chain restaurant that opened on Reforma some 40 years ago!
The casual but delicious Mexican fare was so popular that they now have restaurants all over Mexico City!

You must try the desserts…specifically, the crepes.
So sinfully tasty, so rich, so decadent – they’re the perfect end to a delicious Mexican dinner!

My favorite restaurant was El Mayor, which is named after the ancient Aztec pyramid next to which it was built. We began our lunch with queso, which was the best I’ve ever had.
The fried parsley that accompanied it? AMAZING. Who would have thought to combine fried parsley with queso?

Sip gourmet margaritas, try tapas-style tacos filled with expertly seasoned beef and cactus, and enjoy the view below while you listen to the sounds of the people in Zocalo Plaza below.

The baked brie? It’s to die for. Drizzled with balsamic vinegar, you could easily make a meal of it on its own!

Of course, you must leave room for dessert! The cheesecake, the meringue with strawberries and bananas…everything was light but packed with flavor.

La Patrona Restaurant is one of those neighborhood hot spots where you’ll find free tapas while you enjoy your beer after a long day seeing the sights.
This is authentic Mexican cuisine at its very best!

My all time favorite movie in the world is The Wizard of Oz. I’ve watched it since I was a kid and even shared it with my kids already! So I was super excited when I heard they were making another Oz movie! Therefore when I was asked to review Oz The Great and Powerful on Blu-ray I got excited, danced around, then replied with a great big yes!
I got Oz The Great and Powerful in the mail and pretty much popped it right into watch! Even though the boys said they didn’t want to watch it with me, Landon eventually climbed into my lap to watch and I saw Hunter watching it too at some parts. This movie had me smiling pretty much the whole time. Because of seeing some familiar parts in my beloved movie (the horses of a different color in the pasture!) and the new magical features of this movie. The movie was black and white in the beginning and than when Oz ends up in Oz the color blooms, just like in the original movie. Plus I really loved the storyline!
Michelle Williams is one of my favorite actresses so I was thrilled that she was in it. As well as Mila because I was a huge fan of That 70′s Show. The other people I wasn’t as familiar with but they were wonderful! All in all the acting was incredible.

Right now Amazon has
Oz The Great and Powerful on the Blu-Ray combo pack for only $27! If you haven’t seen this movie yet, you really should. I highly recommend it!
Note: I received a copy of Oz The Great and Powerful on Blu-Ray in order to review it. No other compensation was provided.
Recently Cory bought Transformers Revenge of the Fallen… I didn’t think the boys would be into it because they would be too scared. Even though they love the Transformers Rescue Bots, which is geared more towards kids. But we popped it in and started watching. WE ARE HOOKED NOW. We haven’t watched any of them and now we have watched 2 and 3… I accidentally bought 2 again instead of the first one so we are doing it all out of order haha.
The action in these movies are amazing and I just get so into it. Of course the kids have been wanting to watch it every day but no can do. Too long to do that every day! Also I need to say “Bad Words” very often. They are PG-13 movies so it’s too be expected.
The boys each have their favorite Auto-Bot. Landon loves Optimus Prime. Hunter’s favorite is Bumble Bee! I pretty much love them all.

We are also getting some toys from Hasbro to play with. Landon got Crash from Rescue Bots for Christmas… and then I got Optimus Prime to review! But now he is totally into Optimus Prime since we started watching the movies last week.
No matter what dangers await, this OPTIMUS PRIME figure is ready to be a hero with your little hero! He’s got big gear for big emergencies, and his rescue saw is made for clearing danger out of the way. It starts to spin with the press of a button, and then your little one can send his OPTIMUS PRIME figure into one rescue mission after another!
I guess we should check out Transformers (The first one) and then Transformers Prime which is a cartoon series featuring the main Auto-Bots. I think we have a whole fan family of Transformers now!
Note: I did get the Transformers Optimus Prime to review. All opinions are my own.
