Thanks. UBER incident exposes the mis governance prevailing everywhere.Only when a high profile incident occurs, the system wakes up but comes out with kneejerk reaction. In banning UBER the Govt is trying to win taxi and auto drivers votes in Delhi.UBER is a high visibility company hated bt exploitative taxi operators worldwide and banning UBER does not address the following
States appalling neglect of law and order
Strengthening and reforming the police forces
Corruption in police, transport dept
Political interference in policing
stricter enforcement of transport and traffic laws and rules
Govt realising that it is its fundamental duty to provide safe, reliable and less expensive public transport for people to commute,, rather than allowing fly by night transport operations.Industrial revolution in Europe was greatly facilitated by the provision of imaginative multi -modal public transport.Look ar Hongkong, Tokyo,Singapore, Paris or London. One does not need private vehicles in all these places.
Womens groups keep talking about gender sensitisation.Yes, that is important but that is for the long haul.Govt educational system has expanded but lacks quality and does not have sufficient nation building inputs in it.
Reforming the legal system to deliver quick justice is needed not some more fast track courts.
