The Naive Newsman

I'm introducing a new character in today's cartoon ..."the Naive Newsman". He is "naive" because he does not know the politically correct rules of today's journalism ...He naively thinks that his job is to just present the truth. I've drawn him with his hair messed up ...he's frustrated, but he's doing his best, trying to learn the business.

The off-screen voice coaching him on "what not to say" is that of his director.

I don't know if I should continue using the Naive Newsman in the future. Your thoughts?

School for Journalists

Not long ago I came up with a new character. I called him the Naive Newsman.

I haven't used him for a while, but last night, while discussing the growing isolation of Israel with a friend, I blurted out angrily that "The real enemy is the media!" ...which reminded me of the Naive Newsman. And I began to think of the kind of training he had. And out popped today's cartoon.

Bombing Attacks

The Western news media coverage of the "Israel story" has been anti-Israel for quite some time.

A while ago I started playing with a character I called the Naive Newsman. The premise was that he is too naive to understand the slant he's supposed to put onto the news. I've become tired of the idea so, with the latest series of Iranian-backed Islamist terror attacks, I decided to show that he is no longer naive.

Right-winger Reuven Rivlin elected Israel's president
Reuven Rivlin, a right-wing legislator opposed to the creation of a Palestinian state, was elected Israel's president on Tuesday to replace the dovish Shimon Peres in the largely ceremonial post.
Rivlin, 74, is a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party. He has a reputation for political independence and has had a frosty personal relationship with the Israeli premier. -more

Speaking Terms

Now that the Main Stream Media has treated the world to a picture of Israel as out-of-control, inhumane, and indifferent to civilian casualties ...they'll be gearing up to cover the visit of President Obama's envoy to the area ...and the search for "peace". A good reason to revisit the Naive Newsman and his attempt to be accepted as a professional journalist.

UNRWA Employees

In response to popular demand, I've used the Naive Newsman character again to further explore the fantasy world of TV News reporting of the Mideast "conflict". * * * Meanwhile, in the real world, U.S. Representative Steven R. Rothman of New Jersey has proposed Congressional legislation to "Ensure Terrorists are Not Employed by or Receive Benefits from UNRWA". The following paragraph is from the text of the proposed bill:
